And still it continues to rain. It rained all day today as it did yesterday and the day before. Today, we decided to go to a delightful village in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps called Mittenwald.
Buildings in Mittenwald are highly decorated
with religious or mythological themes
Mittenwald has been famous for over 300 years as a maker of fine violins
So we visit the violin museum
The craft was first established in Mittenwald by Mathias Kloz
and this is one of his pieces, nearly 300 years old
Despite the rain and the mountains being covered in clouds,
we ride the cable car to the top of one of the peaks.
It's not long before we disappear into the clouds
On the way up, we pass the other car going down
The top is at 2240 metres and it's actually snowing
On our way back to Wackersberg, we pass the Walchensee
It is a very lovely location. This is what it looks like in summer and . . .

ReplyDeleteit's crazy the snow in June. Your photo are really nice specially the one in Strasburg it's such a beautiful town ;-). Your German is really good Jeff it's impressive ;-). We hope you will be more lucky with the weather for the moto GP. It's really bad for Rossi. Normally we are leaving Alice Springs today in the direction of Cairns. Thank you for the crocodile you are more lucky than us in Darwin.
