Today we went to Tegernsee which is a lake ta short distance from Wackersberg and then had lunch with Dani's parents, Rolf and Maria.
Lake Tegernsee is a short distance from where we are staying.
It's stopped raining but it is overcast.
Our main reason for coming here was to visit the Hanselbauer Hotel (now the Lederer).
This was the scene of a moment in history called the "Night of the long knives".
The Hanselbauer is nestled right on the water's
edge on one of the most beautiful lakes imaginable.
The Nazis carried out a series of political executions
at this very hotel in 1934. About 85 members of the
Sturmabteilung (SA), the "Brownshirts", were killed .
Itis now a quiet retirement location for the well-to-do and . . .
. . . a popular tourist desination
We were invited to have lunch with Dani Barrett's parents, Rolf and Maria
After lunch, Rolf and I went to his worksop to examine his fleet of motorcycles.
This is an AJS 500 cc single cylinder motorcycle of early-50's vintage.
Rolf bought it on the internet and had to go to England to collect it.
This is my kind of motorcycle.
