Sunday with Rolf and Maria

Today was a lovely relaxing day with the weather cooperating as well. We met Dani Barrett's parents, Rolf and Maria, at their home in Neufahn and travelled with them to the foothills of the alps to the east of us.

We stopped for lunch at Samerberg at a favourite guest house of Rolf's

Me and Rolf. We both wear caps pulled low.

After lunch, we drive to a delightful village called Neubeurn

It has the painted buildings common in Bavaria and

 in Tyrolian Austria, just a few kms away over the Alps

This one has a religious theme with a statue of Jesus on this

corner and one of Mary on the other corner.

The flower boxes add colour to town buildings and private homes as well.

As it had been a full ½ hour since we had anything to eat,

we stopped for coffee and dessert.

We headed for home. There was a short interlude while

Germany thrashed England in the World Cup.

Then we relax on Rolf & Maria's back porch

Jenni mentioned that she had sore feet and, before we knew it,

Maria had produced a foot bath for her.

Maria noticed that my socks had holes in them

 so she brought out the darning kit and repaired them!

Then we had dinner.

As a footnote, today Germany played England in the World Cup.

In one of the plazas in Berlin, thousands of people gathered to watch the match on jumbotrons.

In Munich, Leopoldstrasse, the main shopping mall, was completely filled with people gathered to watch the game and even in the village of Neufahn, outdoor tables, a tent and a TV were set up for the villagers to watch the game. 

 As we drove back, the streets were strangely empty, a bit like Australia on Melbourne Cup Day.
